Default My Logo
I created a new logo for my business. You can check it out by going to my blog at http://www.deannaspencer.com/learnsmallbusiness/?p=365
You can let me know what you think by leaving a comment here or on the blog. For some reason I couldn't post the flickr code here. I appreciate your feedback.

Oh that's creative! Can you get it in a higher resolution? It looks a little pixelated.

I absolutely love the color but have to agree with April on the pixelation issue - it looks like you might have had a small image that you sized up quite a bit? Is there a bigger version you can start with and size down (to maintain image quality)?

And - just in case you feel like getting extra creative - what about a specialized font for some of all of your text? There are LOTS of free font sites out there to peruse

I'm not really sure if I can do that. I'm pretty limited when it comes to graphic design software as that is really not my area of expertise. What would I need to do to get it in a higher resolution? Thanks for the input.

Tess, I do have a bigger version. I'm just not really sure how to resize it without it becoming pixelated.

I actually looked at the large size, but it looks even more pixelated than the smaller one. I guess I need to tinker with it a little bit.

You could always download a free trial version of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and use it long enough to make your logo. Or you could try this program http://www.gimp.org/ which I've heard is just as good and its free.

If you can't get it figured out, let me know and I can try it out on my graphics program.

Yes, it's a little blurry. But I do like the color. Good job!

I still can't figure out how to make it big without it getting more pixelated.
The latest version is on my blog here:

That's better

Sorry I can't help you with the pixelation problem but I like the logo. It's different.

Where did you get the original graphic? It's possible that the original graphic was not a high res graphic to begin with and so enlarging it will always turn out pixelated.

Since this is your logo and will really be part of your overall branding, I would try to find a graphic that was high resolution to begin with. You can find some great stuff on iStockphoto and it might only be a minimal cost.

I like the logo. That color is great...it's a nice, soothing color. I think Tess had a great idea to experiment with some the fonts...but then again, I love working with different fonts, so I'm probably pretty biased there...

pdxblueskie: I got the original graphic from this website: http://www.bestcompanylogo.com/freelogos.php
AwesomeAssistant: I used a program called Gimp. I just saved it as a regular jpg file.

DeAnna,

I like the logo that you created but the image needs to be sharper.
I think the resolution of the original graphic is too low, what format is it in? jpg, tiff, gif?
What size is the graphic?

You should be able to adjust the size in gimp, if you have any problems let me know I am pretty good at and could take a look for you.

Kim

What type of file did they give you? PNG? Tiff?

For a logo, you may want to consider getting into vector format - that means the logo can be scaled to any size, big or small, without losing clarity.

Not to brag, but I'm kick but with graphics - send me your original file and a copy of your finished logo and I'll make it fantastic for you - no charge. Just PM me.
