More professional or personal?
I really like julesvirtualassistance, but I am wondering if a more "professional" business name would be better.
If I can get the darn poll feature to work for me, could y'all vote for your preference (personal or professional), please?
ETA: got poll feature to work!
Thank you!

Re: More professional or personal?
Unless you plan on building a firm of virtual assistants you are the business. My last name is my trademark. It is really up to you how you want the business to shape. Whatever you choose just be consistent in all of your social media platforms and web, blog, etc.

Re: More professional or personal?
Jules - I don't really think it makes a difference. But, I can tell you that finding and feeling comfortable with your "name" is the first step. Once you have it, the rest falls into place. At least it did for me. You should have seen the list I had for name! It must have been 20 or so and when I asked the advise of two dear friends, their opinions were completely different, so that didn't help! But, it was one of my friends husbands who gave me the idea of name and I created the tag line based off of that. Good luck!

Re: More professional or personal?
I came up with a lot of names initially, finally chose one that reflects the area I live in.
A lot of other businesses in my area have similar names. I did this because I was thinking of looking for local clients at the time but now changed my mind. I still like it but there are other names that now I wish I would have chosen.

Re: More professional or personal?
I like the personal one as this business is you ! I used my initials and the only decision I had to make was to use support or services - I chose support.
Go with your gut !
Hope this helps.

I had to chuckle about the initials thing...my initials are "JAB." If they were anything but that, I sure would consider it. I can think of taglines to go with JAB, , but none of them too great for business.
I really like the sound of yours, though. <sigh - wanna trade?>
Thank you, Deborah!

I Like your more personal idea. I use my name in my business and hasn't been stated to be too personal yet!

Re: More professional or personal?
Personally, I like the more professional version. I've found that people treat you with a little more respect if they don't get a freelancer vibe from you. As a small business owner, you just get a little more respect. Just my $0.02!

Re: More professional or personal?
Yeah, right now the "don't feel it makes a diff" is ahead in the poll. That really helps to know.
Robin, you hit the nail on the head - I am having a problem feeling comfortable with most of the names I have come up with or others have helped with.
Maybe I'll do another poll with a short list of names since I value your opinions here so much. I did think I "had it," but since then the doubts have crept in. I bet most have been where I am now!

Re: More professional or personal?
Oy. This has been my thinking on this...I want to come across as professional, but I also want to be "relatable" (if that makes sense - kind of a combo of the two e.g. professional but personal [finding the balance is my problem]). I'm going to sit down and go through the 30+ that I have and narrow them down and do another poll.
Thanks for your input, Deb!

Re: More professional or personal?
Jules, why don't you give us some of the names you were thinking of and we will do a brainstorming session to give you our feedback. It might help you decide.

Re: More professional or personal?
Jules your "JulesVirtualAssistance" is a great name. It incorporates your "personal" with your name and it incorporates your "professional" by telling what you do. I believe most people are going to be more interested in the services you provide and not necessarily what your business name is. Just think of Jules Virtual Assistance with tagline "Helping you reach your business goals" or something to that effect. Make your name work for you.

Lisa's got the ticket! Just the right advice, Jules. Sticking with your own name is ALWAYS a great option, and yours is particularly pretty!

Re: More professional or personal?
I chose the 3rd option because there wasn't an option for both professional and personal. I would have chosen both because that is how I came up with my business name, "Victory Work Solutions". It sounds professional but also has a personal meaning to me. I used "Victory" in my name because my father's name was Victor. I also like what the word Victory means and represents. It is what I will help businesses achieve. "VICTORY"
