I went the professional route with a local designer who I've seen super work from. She's giving me a great rate and I can't wait to post my new logo!

I got my logo done professionally...Christina Raimondo. She is on the net. She did my jewelry design logo as well as Gal FriDee...she did a wonderful job and wasn't real expensive.

I actually hired someone to do my logo for me, and I was NOT happy with the process. They were far more interested in doing what they thought I should do rather than what I wanted. They did not listen to me at all and I essentially fired them. They did good work, but the process was seriously messed up! They kept telling me that my color choices were "tired" and that what I wanted was too cliche.

I've been working with graphics editing in PhotoShop for over 10 years, so I figured I could handle some simple logo design.... and I did it myself.

I've since been asked to create 5 logos, so I figure that I have an eye for it, even though I think what I do is very, very simple. I can't draw, but I have been learning the tools in Illustrator and I do well enough.

This is the one I developed for my own business:

Critiques are welcome!! Everyone close to me says they like it, but then I think, "Well you're biased... of course you like it."

You are in business and it's important you reflect as professional an outlook as possible. Pay for it to be done. The expense is a taxable item and you'll feel much better about it and less tempted to keep trying to change it.

I worked with this one for 14 years:

but over the past 18 months or so have been working with a new one too:

As I began updating my website and providing other services that had similar logos created.

Excellent Jonna!

I actually sketched my logo and asked a friend/graphic designer to render it for me digitally so that it was black on white background and white on black background. I did that so that when I want to have some tshirts printed with my logo on it, I can be selective with tshirt colors other than just white.

Can't wait to see your image!

Congrats!

I currently us a cross between Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher 2007 (which can be used for ebc's; electronic business cards, as well as a logo).

I had a recent discussion with a colleague, he said the best type of logo and or business card in our industry, is one with your picture on it. I asked him to explain to me in detail the reasoning behind this (giving out the basics here).

Business cards that are considered a mini-ad layout aka the Olgivy five step layout: http://desktoppub.about.com/od/ads/ss/ogilvy.htm, are more apt to be remembered and recognized.

In our type of industry, I can see the importance of using a visual, such as a picture of the owner/VA.

My two cent's worth.
