Thanks for all the input on such an interesting subject; I have to admit that the last post made an excellent point - having 'virtual' in the tagline at least is a good point, I will remember that.

I had a hard time deciding on a name as well. Since I picked my name I have come to realize that I maybe should have include Virtual Assistant instead of VA. I have had several enquires as to what I did for VA's (Veterans was the first thought they have). Thanks to Bev at Red Deer College during the "Wear you Bathrobe to Work" campaign this year I used her ideas to create a press release for the local paper that helped the readers know more about what a VA is.
So, yes, using Virtual is a good idea but as people become familiar with the term VA it will be less necessary.

Being new to this, I am faced with the same issue as to whether or not use the word "virtual" in my business name. But after reading the other post and it would be a good idea to use "virtual" in business name or tagline.

I struggled with adding Virtual in my business name. I thought about Prestige Business Solutions or Business Services, but I wanted my clients to realize that my business would be virtual and not strictly in their office, so that's why I finally decided to use Prestige Virtual Services, but on my business cards I did add under my business name, Business Support and Concierge Services. That will allow me to offer other services that are not so virtual.

I think it's nothing wrong to putting "Virtual" in your biz name, but if you are serious about including non-virtual services, leave the name out. Normally, they say that your biz name should say what it is you do.

I choose to use 'virtual' in my business name, because I do not want to do any on site office work. I would like for my business to be somewhat mobile to allow me more flexibility.

I guess it depends on what you want your business to be...
I deliberately don't refer to myself as a VA at all I - partly because very few people over here actually know the term but also because I WANT to meet my clients at least once!!!

I only have one truly virtual client and in some ways that's too many - it's just how I am.

Hi Kim,

When I came up with my business name I decided to make it as easy to understand what I do as possible. It was fairly easy for me to choose my company name. I like my last name, so I chose Valentino Virtual Group. Group was added to leave myself some room for growth if I choose to expand my company and work with others. A fellow business owner friend of mine was over when I chose my company name and reserved my domain. She said she liked what I chose and it clearly explained what I do.

Personally, I like having 'virtual' in my business name. I think it’s an important aspect of my business name. In addition, ‘Business Solutions’ is included in my logo. This gives people a clear picture of what I offer -virtual business solutions. ‘Business solutions’ was something my graphic designer suggested when he was designing my logo. I thought it was a great suggestion and I decided to go with it. Now I’m not limiting my business name with specifying just one service, whether it’s administrative, creative, or whatnot.

So to answer your question, I think ‘Business Solutions’ or ‘Executive Solutions’ is something that would leave one with a good idea or feeling of what you do. Remember in branding and marketing you want someone to walk away with a feeling or understanding of your product or service. So just think about what kind of lasting impression you want to leave on someone when they see or hear your business name.

I wish you the best of luck with your business!

I totally agree. I work a lot with helping businesses discover information about their target market in addition to offering VA services. So I chose a name that covered both basis.

This is just too funny - that is exactly how i feel.

I say it doesn't matter either way - I explain that what I do is virtual - and the whole process.
