Hello, next time post your question in the Forum FAQ section and you'll get a much quicker reply

No, it's not a problem at all to post the kind of links you're asking about.

Goodness gracious, go away for a few hours and come back to a wealth of information.

I would like to thank Lesly, Lily, TargetStars, Gladys, and Angie (hope I didn't leave anyone out, if I did I apologize and thank you as well) for your suggestions on getting or designing a logo. That truly helps me tremendously. I will check everything out and see which I think would be the best for me.

Jessica, I'm glad my post helped you get an answer that you needed.

VAF Admin, I'm sorry, I didn't even think about posting the approval question in the Forum Faq's area. I will do that next time if I have a questionable post.

Thanks again to all of you.
Dana

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to add that I have just used www.logonerds.com for logo design and I was really happy with them. They were quick - provided lots of ideas and were cheap (US $47). In the end I have my logo in so many file types I don't even know what they're all for!

These are all really good suggestions especially for newbies like myself trying to get a handle on everything that goes with starting up a new business.

Wow, this IS A LOT of good information!!!
I had a graphic designer (a personal friend) design my logo. I agree with everyone else's comments and there was one other thing I took into consideration: could the logo be easily engraved, stitched, silk-screened, or debossed on an item with a minimal amount of cost. Just in case I had to make giveaways at some networking event, I wanted to be able to do so with little cost. Just a future thought. . .

Browsing other VA and service provider websites for inspiration was a good exercise. I have been in business 18 months and have just changed my logo. I went through a couple of months where I must have tried about 10 different things and was emailing them to friends and colleagues driving them crazy LOL! I had just purchased Illustrator and was keen to try different things. In the end, after much research and like MonterayVA says, make sure that your image is scalable - needs to be clear on a business card or a large flyer; another tip is to try and have it so it looks good in b&w as well as colour (doesn't lose detail etc) and try to have it reflect something about you, what you do or your business name. It's no use having a butterfly and then having nothing referring to it. Have a tag line that suits - say, setting you free to work on your business or something. Logos are a personal choice and there are lots of places to get inspiration. If you see something you like you can always adapt it to your colours and style etc. Good luck - I loved doing mine!
