Hallmark cards have very nice poems and sentiments. Please don't get me wrong and be offended.

No offense taken...really, this area I live in (Wisconsin, Green Bay) is all about the hallmark names...lol. I really appreciate your feedback.

I wanted a company name that made reference to my own name.

My first name is Gladys and I have always thought that it was a name for old ladies, only. (My mother told me not to worry about it because I would probably grow into it someday. I'm well on my way now!)

My last name is Green and I didn't want to use that because it made me think of 'inexperienced' or 'in need of ripening'.

'Jade' sounded too hard to me.

So I picked Emerald - a jewel, a precious gem.

I added the 'VA Services' because when someone sees it they always ask, "What are VA Services?" So I always get to use my elevator speech. Also, my tag line - Business solutions for busy people - tells them they need me.

Gladys

This was a long and hard process for me. Like others, I looked up all the words that could be associated with what I wanted to do and the services I wanted to provide and wrote them down. I crossed off those that didn't work and ended up with Your Business Support Specialist.

However, I didn't want to limit myself to businesses only and I wanted something near the beginning of the alphabet. I kept at it for a couple of months while moving forward with everything else I needed to do to get this business set up. My main goal is to provide "assistance" to businesses and individuals.

I finally had my "ah-ha" moment. One day while working at my desk, I looked over at the picture of my dear grandma (Alice) who had recently passed away and a picture of my mom (Carol) and I (Suzanne)...and it hit me...Assistant Services Company - it describes what I do without limiting it and Company makes it sound like it's more than just lil'ol me. When I realized the initials were ASC (for Alice, Suzanne and Carol) I knew that was it.

For those still searching for the "right" name, don't worry, you will "know" when you have it. Good luck!!

I just thought of names that best described what I wante
to do. I enjoy doing administrative work. so I brainstormed all the words that had to deal with it and chose the best

I had a few different ideas then i searched to see if the domain name was available this is how I finally decided. I think that was one of the harder parts so far.

My Cyber Assistant is a very good name. I started out with Power Writers in 1997 but everyone thought I was a writer so I changed the name to Maryland Secretarial Services, Inc. Now everyone thinks it is a temporary employment agency. Oh well, I like the name and it gets a lot of attention because it has our state in it. Your name and your rates are very important. So do a lot of research before offering them.

After trying numerous names. I finally settled on the initials of ours (husband and mine) along with office consultant. This from what started me in my own business. I started with helping my brother who is a subcontractor with setting up his business and maintaining his office and training of associates.

I haven't finalized my business name yet. I finally have it down to two:
1. JWeaver Virtual Office Solutions; or
2. Doulos Virtual Office Solutions.

Doulos is a greek word for servant. It's not just any servant but a person who serves without doing it solely for what they will achieve from it. While I will be in business, I don't want to do it solely for the money, but also for the final outcome of a satisfied client.
