Default Re: How did you come up with the name for your virtual assistance company?
I live in Maryland so I thought a name with my state would sound professional. I use "secretarial" instead of "virtual assistant" because when I started my business in 1997 I didn't consider myself a VA, I considered myself a business support company.

We brainstormed several names but for some reason I kept coming back to CMB Virtual Assistants. CMB comes from my two daughters first name and the B is from my neice.

Something simple but means something to me.....

I also wish my story was more interesting. I just searched the web and it just came to me, Virtual Express Inc. sounded like a perfect match for me. It's interesting to hear the storys behind the name. Just love it!

This is so fun to read everyone's stories, I love hearing how you all came up with a business name, for me it was so hard!

For me, I knew that my name had to have a Dot com at the end and I wanted something simple that just said what I was about and after searching for open domain names, I finally found ExtraOfficeHelp.com and that's what I am! Extra office help! I think the ".com" at the end helps to point out to people that I am internet only! Well, I can only hope, right?

After about 2 months and after I got all the paperwork in the name and business cards ordered, etc etc. I came up with the perfect name! Darn! I think I'll still stick with ExtraOfficeHelp.com and save the other name for another time, ah well!

I'm so excited!! I've been thinking about a name for the longest and it's caused me to put everything on hold. 24 hours ago when I was about to loose my mind, I decided to post a message on the forum asking for help, and discovered this Branding section. After reading numerous posts, I think I've finally come up with a name. The domain is available now, and I just need to see if I can register it. Never again will I wait this long to check the forum when I'm stuggling. I truly love this site!!

I love all of the stories of how people came up with their business names, unfortunately, my is very boring.

As I was thinking about names (my initial business plan was to do errands), I was thinking of the saying "I've got places to go, things to do, people to see." I wanted to change it around to "you've got places to go and people to see, give me your things to do". Obviously a bit long for a business name (try getting that on a business card!) So, I just shortened it to "Things To Do".
Nothing too exciting

I'll let you know once I figure it out. I've already changed it once so I'm not saying I've decided on a name until I register it with the Secretary of State.

My business name is taken from the name of my blog, Administrative Arts. When I started the blog, which is for admin professionals, I thought a while about what I was trying to do with the blog. I thought that, you know, not everyone can be a great admin. It's more than just typing and filing. There's a real art to it. And that's where the name came from.

First off, I love dogs!

Years ago I attempted to start my own desktop publishing business. I came up with this great name, Laserdog Productions, & I paid a very talented cartoonist to create my logo, part of which you can see in my avatar. Since I've always loved the name & the logo, I decided to go with it for my VA biz.

As for my desktop publishing business? While I was a wiz at desktop publishing, I was completely unprepared to start & run a business. I ended up creating beautiful resumes for my friends in return for free lunches. ut:
