Default Help!
Hi All....I need help deciding on my company name. I've come up with the concept of using Back-Up somehow. I thought of Realtor Back-up or Realtor Back-up Team and then using "too much to do?....call for Back-up!" and name my packages Back-up plans. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on a name along these lines. I never though picking a name would be this hard!!!

How about Back Up Virtual Assistants. The domain name backupva.com is showing as available on GoDaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com/domains/searc....aspx?ci=16811).

Also, what state are you in? You need to check with your Secretary of State or Corporations Commission to see if the trade name or corporate name of Back Up Virtual Assistants is available. It is VERY important that you at least Trade Name your company. (Better still if you incorporate or form a LLC.) This save name infringement issues that might arise in the future.

Best Wishes,
Julie

Thanks Julie, I like that name. Also thanks for the advice on checking out availability. I live in Ontario, Canada. I am concentrating on the Real Estate niche and wanted to include that in my name too, but didn't want it to be too long. This is as hard as naming your first born! lol

Laurieh,
Yes it is hard naming your business. However, remember that at some point in the future you may want to expand out of the Real Estate market, and then you might regret putting Real Estate in your name. I recommend using a more generic name, therefore allowing possible expansion or change in the future.

Julie

From the best I can tell you need to search the Ministry of Government Services (http://www.ontario.ca/en/services_fo.../STEL02_039990) to look up or file a trade name in Ontario, Canada. I am in th US, so I am unfamiliar with Canada business set-up.

Best of Luck,
Julie

I'm from BC, and to register my business I had to have my name registered. I would do that before you start creating too much with your business name in case you have to change it.
