Feedback appreciated on name
I'm loving this site! I am a new member and would love some feedback on my business name.

BUSI HOME SERVICES
(Office and Home Virtual Assistant)

I am marketing to Small Business mostly, so thought the Home Business reference was apt.

A tagline I am still working on..thinking along the lines of saving them time when they're busy. Taglines are tricky to get it just right.

Thanks

Hi there!

I'm new to VA Forums myself, I joined in February. Isn't it a fantastic resource?!?

FWIW, I try to stay away from "funny" spellings of words, such as how you spelled Busi. It may be easier to get a domain name with unique spellings, but it can be more difficult for contacts to remember exactly how your company name is spelled. I love the name and description, it sounds like you know what type of businesses you want to work for.

It's difficult trying to figure everything out, isn't it? Good luck!

Cheers,

Hi and welcome
I had to think a bit about this one before drafting a reply.... what I ultimately came up with is I'm [personally] not a big fan of deliberate misspellings. That's just me.

I also don't understand easily, from the name itself, what it is you do. To me, 'home services' implies some kind of domestic work or personal care. Although reading the (Office and Home Virtual Assistant) I wonder if there's more to what your business will offer that I'm just not aware of?

Coming up with a business name is one of the biggest struggles for just about every member who posts on the boards - so it's hard for me to post this, knowing that it may confound your process a bit. I do hope it helps a bit though.

Did you have any other potential names/directions you had considered going in?

Thank for the feedback.

Tess - my partner though the same as you about the domestic services, and yes I had originally thought of branching it to both Small Business and Domestic Assistance.

My partner runs a small business and he not only has no time for office work but also the domestic side of his life. Even if it meant doing someone's groceries or cleaning their house, preparing christmas cards mail outs....whatever (although I'd hopefully have a staff member do this), so I can continue to focus on the VA stuff.

So...in a nut shell, I will be offering Business and Domestic Assistance to my clients. But for now (as I still have a FT job) I am focusing on what I can do at home, after hours - mostly the virtual assistant side I want to bulid first. As I get a client base I will float the idea of the expanded services.

That is where the name idea spawned from.

I have tried to come up with other names, but keep coming back to this or something like it. I want to steer away from 'Virtual' in the name as, long term, it is not the only thing I'll provide. Names (and logos) are harder than anyone would think.

Fiona

I went away and thought about it and made a couple of calls. I have 3 weeks to submit new ideas to our Registry office.

I've brainstormed a few.....

Beyond Paper (which I kinda like)
Essential Administration
Office Princess (may be to close Office Goddess I have seen here - if sh'es in Australia)
Office Fairy - very easy to logo
Office Aide
Executives Ally

Fiona (sporting a bit of a headache now)

Out of those, I really like Beyond Paper, but your tag line is really going to have to tell people what it is you actually do. Good luck!

I also like Beyond Paper, but Office Fairy is cute too. Since you're thinking of doing personal services as well as more typical VA work, though, it might be too restrictive. But don't feel like your name has to cover everything you plan to do, since there's likely no way that would be possible!
