Default Deciding on a name is hard!!!
Deciding on a name has been a process! At one point I have said (to myself) Jeez, if I can't make a decision on a name - can I really run a business? lol Seriously this is something that is going to be part of your brand and it is an important consideration. I had a list of about 5 names but I kept coming back to "Virtuality" Found a definition that says Virtuality "is the state of being Virtual". So I think it describes me and I just kept coming back to this. I had to go with it quickly as a meeting with a potential client came up and I really wanted to be able to hand them a business card with my name on it.

Could I get a little feedback on this? Several people I have ran it by do not like it so I wonder if I am seeing something that no body else sees.....

What do you guys think?

I actually had a personal blog named My Virtuality for awhile but I defined it as "Where my Virtual and my Reality meet". Most people see virtuality and think "Virtual Reality" like a game. Maybe that's what your friends are thinking.

My name came to me one morning when I was IM'ing with a friend and she said something about it being "crucial" to find someone to do something (can't remember what now). I looked up crucial and saw "vital" as a synonym and that was it. I had the main focus for my company name.

I say go with what "speaks" to you.

Thanks Christina,

I kept coming back to this word so it was speaking to me! I think part of it is because the whole VA concept came about so fast with me getting work before I really even asked for it. Then I had three days before I met with a potential client and really wanted to be able to hand them a business card. I was playing with a postcard template in Word and "Virtuality" just looked really good running across the bottom!

I am playing with a tag line and so far I have "The essential resource to manage your business".

If someone had to ask me what my weak areas were in administration I would have to say it would be the area of creativity and visual impact. So right now I am not offering services in web design, brochures or anything along those lines! And I am trying to be aware of my weaknesses here and give what I think looks good a second look or another set of eyes!

Re: Deciding on a name is hard!!!
Virtuality sort of reminds me of the name of that Michael Keaton movie Multiplicity. The plot on the IMDB says: "A man who never has enough time for the things he wants to do is offered the opportunity to have himself duplicated." Maybe you could incorporate something similar in your tag line?

As you can tell, I am also creatively challenged with these types of things! But don't distress - it doesn't mean you aren't capable of running your own business! We all have our strengths & weaknesses & that's what makes this community so wonderful - you can call on the creativity of others to help with your weakness & you offer your strengths in return.

Good luck!

Lezly
