A Day in the Life of a VA

My days are quite long and most are quite crazy. It starts around 5:15am, I hear my husband whispering "Would you want to pack my lunch"? raising his eyebrows like it's a special treat for me. I drag to the kitchen with one eye open and throw something together and place neatly in his lunchbox. I seriously wait for the day, he calls from work asking me why I packed him frozen waffles, I'm such a zombie at that time. Most days I lay back down for about an hour. At, 6:30am it's my turn to awake, jump in the shower and start my day.
I then check my email, twitter, begin breakfast for the boys and wake them up by singing to them "You are my sunshine". We then usually argue over where who's socks are where and where the library book is. Then it's off to take them to school.
I'm home by 8:20am throw in a load of laundry and back to the computer to visit VAF - It's a must, daily. I try to do most of my networking at this point. Then it's off to do client work until lunch time.
At lunch time..I try to walk on the treadmill or outside down our lane, if it's nice enough. Fresh air seems to refresh my mind and get me ready for more client work. Usually work on client work until school is over.
I dedicate my afternoons to my family. We usually spend afternoons playing outdoors, riding 4-wheelers, at some kind of practice(basketball, baseball), cutting wood
basically just anything together.
Evenings here are nice and quite. After supper we watch a movie, play a game, build with legos until 8:30pm then it's bedtime for the boys and I'm back to my computer.
Well, I get the occasional you have to work again tonight from my husband
. So, work gets put on hold until the next crazy day. Otherwise, I'm up till around midnight working away!
I love my family life and my life as a VA.

Kena, I can SO relate to the 'do you want to....' line with the raised eyebrows!

Wow...your days are really long but very productive. I like that your family time is not overlooked because of client projects. Sounds like you have a lot of family fun. You rock on Kena!

You have so much to do girl. Wow. I love that you get to spend time and work around your family! That is such an important component to making our businesses (and families) work.

Thank You Ladies -
Tess, you made me LOL with your comment. Tahneesha, my Mom has drilled it in my head how fast my boys are growing up. So, I try to spend as much time as I can with them. And, as a Mom I'm sure you know, not everyday is the same. Rikki, I also love the fact that I'm available for my families needs - actually I'm almost too available! They are all 3 spoiled. |
