Christmas Ideas-

Ok. So, I'm a procrastinator, and I must say I work very well under those conditions, usually. Christmas is almost here and I've barely started my shopping. Although, I love this time of year and being with my family, trying to decide on the perfect present can be quite stressful.
I set my boys down this morning and told them to make Santa and I a list. They had neither one asked for much, just this and that here and there. And, here is the reponse we got - Tucker (8) Wii, laptop & remote control motorcycle. Heston (6) trucks, semi -trucks and some box trailers, gooseneck flatbed trailers, remote control honk honk (semi truck). Tell me just how in the world that is going to work. The oldest one is wanting about $1000.00 worth and the youngest maybe $200.00 at the most. Heston did say he would take a Wii if he "had" too. So, then this idea popped into mine and Santa's head - Mom & Dad could get them a Wii together and the few other items could be from Santa. haha Mr. Claus you cant always give all the cool gifts.
I want my boys to know the meaning of christmas. Dont want them to think its just about getting presents. JC and I decided when our boys were little that..they would each get 3 presents - Like the wiseman brought to Baby Jesus. I want to teach them it is better to give than to receive and I must admit the oldest one very much enjoys giving to others. The youngest one - we wont go there yet lol. It just helps us keep things into prospective; so, things dont get out of hand on the gift buying aspect.
Well, I'm off to start my shopping - will post back with what came of the trip and presents.

Great post Kena - I love that Heston would 'take a Wii if he had to'... Kids! The Wii Fit IS pretty cool and gets you moving. My parents actually have one (we don't, yet) and love it. Fun for the adults too!

The wii is awesome! We love it and my 4 year old loves it too. She is really good at it.
I don't have the fit yet but we are thinking about getting that too. I don't know how anyone does it buying for more than 1 or 2 kids. I spent over $1000 (i know i am crazy!) on my daughter for christmas and i couldn't imagine having to buy for another!!! lol Well if we have another one it better be a girl because we bought out toys r us for her and I can't do the same for a second!!! lol I am just about done buying xmas gifts i had to buy for 18 people this year. ![]() |

I have seen the Wii in action and it looks very fun - I didn't get my turn last year as all the guys were too busy boxing <grin>. This is the first year that our little guy is actually aware of 'presents' so it was a little hard to go shopping with him this year - I had to be sneaky! Thankfully he is still happy with Thomas and trains. That being said, I seem to find something everytime I was out so he will have more than he probably needs. We have a baby too though she is not as exciting to buy toys for at this point but I sure love to buy little girly outfits!

Great post Kena. I would go for the Wii, we got one for my son and it is definitely family friendly. I loved the 3 present thought! My children are older but Christmas is still fun even they are not so in awe of "Santa".
Good job on the blog, hope to be joining the blogging revolution soon. |

The Wii was on our Santa list this year too, but we are going to have to wait on that one.
Can't wait to hear about the great sales you found during your midnight madness shopping trip! ![]() |

Good post Kena. I like to hear about how other parents tackle the Christmas present shopping for their kids.
How did the midnight trip to WalMart go? I didn't see anything on the news about you having to take anyone down so things must have remained pretty civil. |

I sometimes wish our son was still little. He is all grown now, and the 'fun' stuff for him is way out of our budget. We usually get him some little thing that is fun he can take back to school, but this year, nothing presented itself. Last year we bought him Marshmellow launchers from drugstore.com. He and his buddies had great fun with them. The year before it was water balloon launchers. I heard he had to "walk some hours" with those.
Merry Christmas. Kathy |
