WooHoo, I got a Wii for the boys. Some of you know about my midnight shopping trip on Saturday night/ Sunday Morning, it was not fun at all. Here's how the story begins -

On Saturday,I had my Mom come over and sit with my boys while I made a short trip to Walmart. I get there and no Wii's. I ask a sales associate where all the Wii's were? Her reply was oh we put them up, as in, in the back until 12:01am. I ask her why, she said that's when the sell starts. My next question was what time should I be back here? around 11:30pm should be good, she says. I go to Walmart at 11:30 as told to do. There is already a line, but it was a short one only about 6 people in front of me. No big deal, right! WRONG. They only had 4 Wii's to sell that night/morning. I was a little upset. Remind you, nearest actual city/town that has any kind of electronic store is 65 miles away. So, I kindly let the Store Manager know, from now on I would be making my purchases at a store that had a more adequate selection along with a more competetent purchaser. At that point, my Sister-N-Laws jaw hit the floor. The store manager did apologize and informed me she didn't have any control over what was sent to them. That did calm me until the manager informed I could however go to another store to see if they had one left. OH MAN, then I was ticked. I informed her as a "so-called" manager that was her job. LOL, she did call around with me right in front of her - and all stores were out. BTW- I did apologize for calling her a "so-called" manager and her store inadequate and incompetetent. Not sure I meant it; but, made me feel better..I'm sure store managers get a lot of that during the holidays. All in all, I'm not a up-tight person and don't usually mind when a store is out-of-stock on something but to only have 4 Wii's available for purchase during a major sale? that's just stupid!

I came home that morning and ordered one brand new- with more accessories, off of EBAY and less expensive too.

I will battle the Christmas shopping experience once more on Saturday with the Husband intact. This should be very interesting, he hates to shop - but it's his family we have left to buy for! Oh, And I vow to remain calm - big purchases are now done, lol.

Oh Kena, you poor thing! It's crazy to me how people run themselves ragged to buy the latest and greatest. I remember when I was little Cabbage Patch Dolls were super trendy and people were literally fighting over them in the aisles of the toy store.

I feel for you Kena, I made many frequent trips when my kids were small but it seemed that at least the stores had what you need. Good for you for standing your ground. I would call the store main office and file a complaint with customer relations (sometimes they send you a certificate to keep you happy).

And good luck with the husband shopping, something I wouls not wish on most.

I think it is very slick for stores to carry only a few of something and make a big deal about advertising it.

We got the Wii this year as well. We called the store ahead of time to find out how many they had in stock. Knowing that Wiis were in short supply due to high demand, I didn't want to run around for nothing if there was no stock. The store opened at 7am and we were there at that time, but the line was only about 20 people total. The manager was organized and went up and down the line asking who was there for the TVs, the Wiis, and some of the other items. They handed out numbered tickets for each item. (This was K-mart.) Anyway, we were number 3 and that was that. Normally, I would never go out of my way for something like this. We made an exception this year for my son as he had worked hard in school and around the house. We thought it would be a nice surprise. I also was intrigued by a video game that would get him off the floor and out of a chair. As it turns out, my 80-year old mother played the Wii on Christmas Eve, which was a miracle to me. She rarely participates in things she doesn't understand but she seemed intrigued and played a few bowling games. And enjoyed it!
