Are You An Entrepreneur?

I recently came across an excellent article from fellow VA, Angie Green, which describes the concept that an entrepreneur satisfies needs we do not even know we have. To have it put into words what exactly an entrepreneur should be/do has inspired me to change some wrong thinking on my part. You see, I am guilty of colouring within the lines and staying within my comfort zone when it comes to any kind of marketing. That means that when opportunities to speak up have occurred (and they have) that I usually freeze and get the ‘caught in the headlights’ look. I’m also a forum lurker so I haven’t participated in many discussions which have been proven to be beneficial in both creating a support system and increasing your online presence. Has this helped spread the word about the Virtual Assistant industry or my business? No way!

To think like an entrepreneur we have to be willing to step outside the box. That means for all of us wallflowers we need to step out and overcome what fears we may have when it comes to talking to others about what we do. If we were to truly believe that we can offer potential clients a solution for problems that they don’t even know they have yet – there would be no stopping how far we could go. With the New Year almost upon us, this is a perfect time to determine to come out of our shells and ramp up our marketing efforts…with confidence in knowing that we are problem solvers!

	That was a great article for I have read it as well. I have to agree with you that more now than ever stepping out of the box is needed...and when one does they will see all of the opportunites that are out there.

I whole-heartedly agree with you. I have had to come completely out of my comfort zone just to start my business and continue to be dragged out of it on a daily basis. After being in business for over a year now, I have to say that my comfort zone has changed a lot in that time.

One of my biggest fears has always been public speaking. I would have done anything not to have to get up in public, even in front of a small crowd of people that I knew. When I started my business I told myself that it was something that I just had to get over and do if I wanted to be successful. Now, I stand up in front of crowds on a regular basis and it barely even phases me. It gets easier each time and I'm glad that I forced myself out of my comfort zone.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm by no means an expert at it, but I can do it without being scared to death. LOL

	Good for you Rebecka...I know that one of my goals this year is to sign up for Toastmasters with the intention of finally ridding myself of the fear of public speaking. Will let you know how it goes:0 It truly is amazing what we are able to learn and become familiar with.
