Cincinnati Virtual Assistant Pioneers New Industry Movement
One Cincinnati man seeks to unite male service providers in the generally female-dominated Virtual Assistance industry with a new social group at Virtual Assistant Forums: Men of the VA Industry.
Virtual Assistance is thought by many to be a career field generally preferred by women. One man in Cincinnati, Ohio is pioneering a movement to change this stereotypical view of the industry.
Winston Stewart, owner of Cincinnati-based S-M Office Solutions, has become a proactive voice for male Virtual Assistants everywhere.
“When I decided to become a Virtual Assistant about nine years ago, I couldn't believe how few men were in the industry,” said Stewart. “My goal now is to encourage men to join the industry, and to bring other existing male VAs out of 'hiding'.”
Stewart is an active member of Virtual Assistant Forums where he has created a social group specifically for male Virtual Assistants. With overwhelming support from his female counterparts at the online community for VAs, the Men of the Virtual Assistant Industry Group aims to encourage men already operating in the field to connect and share insight and experience while highlighting the male perspective in a predominantly female industry.
“In the virtual assistance industry it can be easy for male service providers to feel marginalized, even when networking at the friendliest of online communities,” said Tess Strand Alipour, founder of Virtual Assistant Forums. “Winston’s idea to create a social group at Virtual Assistant Forums to help bring his fellow male VAs together has been extremely well received.”
