Before joining the forum, I purchased a lot of manuals and do it yourself book to find out info about this field of Virtual Assistant. This field incorporated a lot more application and computer awareness. It also was more flexible than just being a traditional Secretary. I went to classes for certain applications I never used, and I mastered them.
I graduated from college with an AA Degree, (1982) minored in Law and Legal Secretarial Science. When I started typing I used a manual typewriter--Royal (lets just say I was a teenage in high school in the 70's), then the IBM electric typewriter was next, then a Smith Coroner Word Processor, then finally my first computer in 1998 a Phionex computer.
My first software suite was from Corel. I used their spreadsheet, photoshop and countless another application which came with my first computer. I no longer use my Corel suite because I have upgraded to XP, but they help establishing my VA business. Oh by the way, I still use WordPerfect, I found that Lawyers like that the best, I don't know why.
I am always attending training sessions and I no longer purchase training or do it yourself books. I...
