The technology boom has enabled people to do things today that could only be dreamed of twenty years ago. This technological renaissance has opened up so many unbelievable opportunities for businesses to get their name out there. One such way is through Social Media, and we are at the beginning of what I believe will be a Social Media explosion!

So what is Social Media? Wikipedia.org defines social media as: "...online content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies." There are countless forms of Social Media and businesses all around the world have jumped on this bandwagon for marketing, and its working!

Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are all Social Media networks that companies are now using to connect to potential customers and clients. Some companies are now hiring people to do nothing but use these networks and the like to create a presence. This is achieved by mixing sort of a proactive customer service with mass marketing.

Let's use Twitter as an example. Daily you can find literally thousands of posts from companies around the world. Surprisingly, most are not generated by a robot, but by an actual person. Using a live person achieves two main goals. The first goal is that it gives a company a more "human" image as apposed to "conglomerate," and the second is that by using this image, they are able to establish a better trust in which to market. By getting to interact and know the individuals that are representing a company, people tend to begin opening up a little more. It is through this openness that a more direct marketing becomes successful.

So as the Social Media "boom" has begun, I have jumped onto that bandwagon myself. This blog is a perfect example of that. My goal is to let people know that I am a real person, and that my clients and my work are very important to me. I am very proud to say that I genuinely love and enjoy what I do. My passion is to help others, and knowing that I have made someone happy is very rewarding to me. I love being a Virtual Assistant!
