Time for Personal Development???

Do you find it challenging to make time for personal development?

During June, I decided to take some time for personal development and become more knowledgeable about Information Communication Technology (ICT) and the direction the region (the Caribbean) was moving in the area of information technology.

According to the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the Caribbean ICT Roadshow had been developed to raise awareness within the public sector, the private sector, civil society and academia, of the innovative approaches possible and necessary for the effective use of ICTs in government, business and social development.

The programme was designed to educate and demonstrate the transformative power of ICT innovation. It took the form of a series of country visits across the region, designed to foster a spirit of innovation in the development of ICT-based practical solutions, to raise awareness and to encourage harmonization of efforts in the adoption of ICT solutions for inclusive economic and social development.

I was in two minds as to whether I should take the time off from my virtual assistant business to attend the sessions for the local Roadshow, which ran for three days. Once there however, I realized an excellent learning and networking opportunity. I was able to market my business and make connections for excellent opportunities.

For me the other highlights were the experiences of entrepreneurs who had gone along the bumpy road of entrepreneurship and were now making a success of their ventures. Most useful too, was the half an hour, one-on-one session with the facilitators, which provided guidance for entrepreneurs on moving their business forward. At the end of it all, I was rejuvenated and excited. I would now need to work some longer hours for the time I had lost, however, the investment in my personal development was worth it.

So, does it seem too challenging to take time off from your Virtual Assistance routines for personal development opportunities? Then remember: the connections you make at these events might be just what you need, to grow your business and advertise your services.

Hmmm, your link just lands on your blog's home page so it's kind of hard to respond to the blog post as a whole, since I can't find it (Maybe you'd do better to just post the content here so we can more easily read it??)

But to answer the question - Yes, I do absolutely make time for personal development. I think so many business owners get burned out because they don't make or take the time to take care of themselves. I realized a long time ago that I AM my business, and if I burn out, my business burns out.
