Once I reached the point where I felt that I had enough of the corporate world, I excitedly began putting my thoughts together on establishing my business as a Virtual Assistant.

I would finally achieve the work-life balance I desired...the taste of freedom was sweet. I could now work from home and have the flexibility to do the things I really loved.

My vision was to surpass my clients expectations with administrative solutions that would free their time; so that they too, could attain their desired work-life balance.

As time went by, my dilema became clear --

Could I achieve the work-life balance I desired? What are my working hours? What about my exercise routines? When will be my vacation? How do I find the time to do all those things, which were my reasons for starting a Virtual Assistant business in the first place? Am I spending too much time surfing the net or visiting Virtual Assistant forums? My promise to my clients is to help them achieve that work-life balance -- can I attain that balance?

Can you achieve that balance? Have you? How can a Virtual Assistant Achieve an appropriate work-life balance?

I believe we can. While it is a daunting task from time to time trying to get a VA business going or any business for all that matter. We have to set very clear bounderies for ourselves so that we can achieve that balance.

I appreciate your thoughts, Rhonda. Well said.

Re-visiting my reasons for choosing to be a VA also helps to get me back on track.

It will be great to hear what strategies other VA's use.

I think we eventually obtain a work/life balance. I believe at first while starting a business you are more work than life. But knowing what you want will bring everything back into balance. You will achieve your balance.

Thank you Nancy.

When I feel like I am going off target, maintaining a log of activities guides me in re-assessing how I invest my time and in re-assigning priorities, if necessary.

Thanks Nancy that's a nice positive response. I'm also in the early stages of setting up my business so sometimes never switch off from work mind set. I have a project plan for my business with time-scales, I'm also contemplating something similar for my personal life. I'm going to write down all the things I want to achieve and when by and check it occasionally.
