Working from a Hospital Bed - Is it easy? Not for me!!!

Hi Everyone
I had major surgery on September 21 and was in the hospital for 9 days. Before going in a made a plan to write articles, work on my blog, and learning how to link and use LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. I was going to be able to work from the hospital and come home and start implementing all the articles to various avenues and be able to twitter and post etc to my heart's content. Boy was I wrong.
From the moment I woke up in ICU I had such terrible back pain. I had no issues per se with the surgery, just this back pain. They said it was because you lie on the table for 4 hours with no movement. So if your body is not in a great position you do not feel it until you wake up.
I was also on so many medications (and I do not take pills normally) I had 12 in the morning and 10 at night plus two shots in the stomach for blood thinners.
All of this combined made me feel not so great. I had no wish or want to think about anything let alone be creative in article writing and trying to work on social media.
The upside to all of this is that I am now writing a blog and while waiting for one of my test at the hospital (as my blood pressure spiked during surgery so they were checking it out) I did happen upon a potential client that I am now following up.
So now I will be out of pain and limited mobility and perhaps have a new client. So even though my plan did not work for while I was in the hospital, good still came from it.
I hope to never go through this again, but if I do I will still probably plan to do lots of work, but knowing in the back of my mind not to fret about it if it does not happen.
Maybe my next post will be about a new client.

Nancy, ouch! I am so sorry to hear you've had so much pain to deal with, but it sounds like you're making the most of the 'down time' to continue to grow your business.
It's always inspiring to hear stories of entrepreneurs who utilize every moment, even times like this, to find success. Wishing you luck with that potential client! |

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear about your plight. I can relate. I was recently in the hospital as well. It was not a planned visit. I was having chest pains and I have a history of heart problems so they admitted me. Not wanting my clients to know I was in the hospital I decided I would work from the hospital bed as well. I had my cell phone and laptop. Had my calls forwarded to my cell phone and did work during my stay, but I had a horrible headache that made it next to impossible to think straight. The headache was a side effect of the Nitrogylerin I had to take for my heart, and boy was it a bad headache.
The good news for both of us is we are both back on track. I'm glad to hear you are beginning to feel better and wish you a very quick complete recovery. They put me on new heart meds and I am doing okay as far as the chest pain goes now, but the medicine has it's own side effects. I suppose I will get used to those eventually. Good for you for trying to stay on top of things in diversity. Sometimes it can be extremely difficult to do so. I applaud you for your dedication!!! Good luck with potential client! |
