Hello there this is my first attempt at blogging on this forum. I hope you realise I am new at the blogging challenge but that is good because I can start the challenge to myself and any views here amongst friendly commentators... I have been having a few issues with my computer this year so missed out on January and February simply because out of 40 days my computer was not working for 25 of those days. In between facing up to those issues and spending more time than I would like to admit on fixing it I have learnt a little about twitter and how to share information to my Linkedin account and also link in my wordpress blog. Also I recently attended the AVAC conference in Melbourne and not only met awesome VAs but learnt a great deal. Thanks to those who organised and participated in this event. Whilst I have a website under construction I am sure that driving traffic to my blog will be more effective once that is completed.

End-of-year-Blog What I would do now had I known earlier [Post #5]

Well to start with every time I read a blog on VAF I am amazed by the quality of the writers. Especially when I read anything by RhondaHolscher I truly feel like I am experiencing what Rhonda is talking about; I learn a lot from your writing Rhonda, thank you!

I also love the way OrganizedAssistant writes especially about the corporate world and what / which parts are useful in a different world such as the 'virtual world' we are now members of.

Thank you as well Janine for organizing this fantastic area in which to learn and test the blogging waters. I for one can remember learning the way to blog here on VAF and the first time I found it very scary. To tell you the truth I still do find it...

Exploitation, Ethics, Engagement

Posted 07-31-2010 at 06:20 AM by MIM Enterprises
There has been quite a lot of discussion lately on various forums about the three 'E's. They seem to be exploitation, ethics and engagement. I was recently listening to Episode 68 the recent podcast by the lovely Darlene and I realised that these types of discussions will continue and so they should. The first discussion about exploitation began on LinkedIn and started a really interesting reaction with 14 comments. This was prompted by a blog I saw somewhere in cyberspace about pay rates. Sadly at times there appears to be a general desire for some quarters to exploit workers whether it is in the VA industry, hospitality or even industry. Whilst we work globally from home in the VA industry I believe Jeanne Clontz and Darlene and...

How has being a member of VAF made an impact on you and your business? (Post #2)

Posted 04-16-2010 at 10:26 PM by MIM Enterprises
The impact on my business has been great, I have learnt to set up profiles, network, join groups and this is my second Blog here which is amazing I think anyway....I have found so many tips and tricks and useful points of reference many times and I have found even after spending hours checking out the site I will always find something new to keep me on track with my business. I learnt early that a business plan is important and also that many people cringe at the suggestion of achieving a business plan ut: I think all the stress is worth it. I feel more organised and able to present myself as an anti-chaos technician. Thanks to the VAF forum for helping me move along so fast in my learning curve!
