A Day in the Life of a Virtual Assistant

As a virtual assistant I can tell you that no 2 days are the same! Everyday starts the same, I login to my email account to check on my clients.
Once I answer those emails, I check the status of the various helpdesk tickets.
Once that task is completed the fun begins! I can always tell when my clients are online working because that's when it gets exciting! I will have at least 5 tabs opened, 2 or 3 instant messages going, the phone ends up ringing and I have family members that are calling for my attention.
I only allow myself to sit at my desk 1 hour at a time before taking a break. Every break lasts between 15 minutes to 30 minutes. I will vary what I do with each break; for instance, I will jog in place using hand-weights; start the washing machine and/or dryer, vacuum 1 floor or wash a load of dishes. Juggling at its best
One thing I've tried to do this year is schedule all doctors appointments for the late afternoon, that way I don't have to take off work so I can keep my weekends for my family.
When I started my VA business I pictured myself sitting at a desk (organized of course) with matching file folders, fresh painted walls, the newest equipment and never having to get up and down from my seat hundreds of times a day. But...reality stepped in and am I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

I really like how you make sure you stop and take breaks throughout the day (even if some of the breaks are floor cleaning in nature

When reading your post, I saw a lot of myself in it. Short breaks prove to be my saving grace as well. There is such a feeling of refreshment when during those short breaks I know I am freeing time for my weekend. Also, I schedule all my appointments on Friday afternoons. It keeps me from forgetting and double booking. Great post.
