Hi Sheila, if you visit the Phone, VOIP, Fax and Email section of VAF and use the 'search this forum' feature to look for posts related to Skype you'll find a TON of conversations on the topic [or, you can just click that link right there and get the same info ]

Personally, I love Skype - we haven't had a land line for over five years and solely used Skype for almost that entire time [we did recently get an iPhone but even then we use Skype if it's cheaper.].

I've used Skype for conference calls, virtual meetings with clients and PCs, and of course personal calls. There are some neat functions that allow you to record calls and there is video chat as well as basic IM... it's a full-featured software and very affordable. I highly recommend!

Just for future reference, I'd really recommend using the appropriate forum sections to ask questions like this - that way you can utilize your blog to show off your skills and knowledge.
