Don't write off working locally yet ...

it's not that bad.

I contract with businesses locally, and have been for over 10 years. I admit I had not wanted to do this type of thing once I officially became a virtual assistant. However, two months ago a former business contact asked if I would fill in for his assistant while she was recovering from minor surgery, which was to be for about two weeks. Those two weeks turned into two months, and as it turns out, will continue on for another two weeks -- although for only half-a-day.

Although working in-office is not my ideal situation, I still take comfort in knowing that I do it on my terms. And while at this office, I discovered a new love (business-wise), which is researching. I found that not only do I love it, but that I took this new task by its horns and totally rocked beyond my own expectations.

So, yes, don't write off contracting locally or with a temp agency to pull you through slower times or to get yourself going as you establish your virtual business. You can make wonderful contacts, learn new things, and it gives you the occasion to sport a new dress or a new pair of shoes at the office

I have to admit, I did a bit of shopping with my first payment to eXPERT Business Support Services ... it was a business expense after all.
