When I first began as a virtual assistant I thought that most of my clients would be local because I didn't understand the power that social media marketing truly had on business today. I couldn't have been more wrong.
My first step into it was creating a Facebook Fan Page and netted me a client. I had a twitter page already set up, a LinkedIn account, and of course the blog on my WordPress website.
After just 1 month I started getting calls for projects and then retainer work. After one of my clients said, "I decided to work with you because I like what you post on Facebook and in your blog. Our business philosophies and goals seem to match very well." That one comment was an eye opener for me.
I started posting...

Until last week I thought the oddest place I had found a client was when I took my son go kart racing for his birthday. As odd as that was, I just got a new client I will be working with in the next couple of weeks.
The reason it is so odd for me is because it was a referral from my mother-in-law. You are probably thinking, "Serita, what is so strange about that?" The reason it is so strange is because she can't even understand what I do! I may hunt high and low for clients online and locally, but all she does is go get her hair done and start telling this hair dresser how she needs to hire me. Now most of you may not find that unusual, but I do. The funny thing is they are ready to jump on board. So not only have I got a super...

For any of you that don't know it already, we are so blessed here on Virtual Assistant Forums. I received a phone call today that I was very excited about. I have been accepted to the National Association of Professional Women Association. I was thrilled as my account representative started explaining to me about all the free webinars and educational opportunities I would have access to, along with unlimited opportunities to network and introduce myself and discounts to hundreds of nationwide brands.
And when she had me positively drooling, she told me that the price for an elite membership is almost $400 or the preferred membership is almost $600. Wow! What happened to my free membership? Well it turns out I am still a member,...

As I have been blogging for several months now on my website, and am doing it consistently, driving traffic to that blog has been tedious at best.
My Active Rain blog on the Active Rain real estate boards receives comments almost every time I post. In an effort to get some of those comments into my website blog, I have begun copying only the first paragraph of my website blog to the Active Rain blog with a read more hyperlink. This is bringing more traffic, but alas, they return to Active Rain to leave the comment.
I too have added numerous keywords, all dealing with real estate virtual assistance, and am now working on back links. This is tedious at best.
My latest effort, one I have not completed but expect to finish within...

When I was an agent I started every day with the thought that I would take a listing. Yes, I am that positive. One particular week I had four listing appointments in two days. A fellow agent, and a friend, asked me the following morning how my appointments had gone as she had not seen me the days I had appointments. I said, "I think they went really well. I'm going to call today because they should be ready to list with me today." She busted out laughing and said, "They could throw you out of the house and you would still think they were going to list with you!" Needless to say, she was quite surprised when she came in for our morning meeting the following day to see me writing all four listings on the board. I got all four...

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to know in advance the consequences of your actions? I heard a song on the radio today about just that, and then I thought of this month’s blog challenge and decided that the person I would most like to meet would be me. A me that is 5 years into my business and could answer all the questions I have in the present.
If I met the future me I would know exactly what marketing strategies I’m trying are going to work or not work. I would know exactly who to approach for business because the future me would already know where that perfect opportunity for a new client lies, and remember who my first client was, or will be. The future me would certainly make my business planning a lot easier,...

If I were to meet someone from the present, I would most like to meet Monica Reynolds, of the Mike Ferry Assistant Coaching program. I took her coaching program 2 years ago, but I was never able to meet her in person.
The coaching was done in a conference call on a weekly basis, and she has the best client systems of anyone I have ever met. She handles coaching for real estate assistants only, but her 450 page manual covers everything you could ever want to know about being an assistant in the real estate industry.
I believe that Monica is highly talented and extremely knowledgable about not only being an assistant, but also about the real estate industry itself. Meeting Monica and getting to sit and talk with her would be a great...
