Not Exactly Nancy Drew (Post #2)

When I was in 5th grade I was obsessed with Nancy Drew. In fact, my parents, being the enablers they are, actually signed me up for the Nancy Drew Book Club. This meant that every month I got two new 'double' books, which gave me four new mysteries to devour a month. Of course I had them done well before the month was over and was anxiously awaiting the mail every month.
Until that fated day when I had finally exhausted the series. It was such a sad day for me, that I remember deciding that I'd have to write my own girl detective mysteries.
My fifth grade teacher, Mr. Clements, had the honor of being presented with my first attempt at writing. He was such a good sport. I'm sure he wanted to laugh out loud, but he smiled and told me to keep on writing.
And I did.
After the birth of my first child I took a fiction writing course, finishing it with an A+ average. But then a second child, PTA and mom activities followed by a mid-life career sidetracked my dream of writing.
Until I discovered blogging. It started with a personal blog, and then when I started my business, a business blog.
Today I write for 5 blogs, 2 associated with my business and 3 as contributing editor of blogs belonging to others. I've also written two e-books. One for businesses interested in working with a virtual assistant and my latest, the VA Survival Guide for virtual assistants. But somewhere, buried deep beneath my business woman persona is that little girl that exclaims, "But it's not Nancy Drew!"

Hi Tina,
Thank you for your clever post. I have a peculiar feeling that you just may write that mystery series someday! 'The Case of the Missing Blogger'... ![]() Even though you are not writing the mysteries you love so much, it is smart for you to stay 'in the mix' and write in other ways which still give you the opportunity to do what you love best. Great post! Thank you. Janine |

Thanks Janine! If "The Case of the Missing Blogger" ever becomes a reality I'll be sure to mention you in the dedication page.

Thanks, Tina!
And, I'd like a first edition, signed copy of that book! Can't wait to read it! I imagine the missing blogger is lost in cyberspace but leaves clues behind in her blog posts on VAF as to where we can find her! ![]() Janine |

Tina, I used to love Nancy Drew! I also read all of her books.
I am subscribed to your blog and when it comes to my email box, I open it up right away. I usually just file most of them away for later, but not yours. You always have good information that is interesting that applies to me. I won a copy of your VA Survival Guide. Loved it! There was a great amount of content which I am sure took you a look time to research and compile. Thank you for being such a great writer and sharing! |

JoCarole, thank you so much for the high praise for my writing and the VA Survival Guide. I always write hoping that what I'm sharing will help someone else out there. Getting feedback from someone who reads my work means so much. Again, thank you!
