I am so excited about my business.
I am constantly “looking” for ways to get clients or grow my business. Constantly “talking” about what I’d like to do. Heaven forbid I am “waiting” for the economy to turn around before me… Recognizing my business traffic signals to take the appropriate action.
First thing:
Use Your Pipeline.
Keep your pipeline full by consistently adding to it. If you get tunnel vision on 1 or 2 potential clients, you are loosing valuable time. Nothing is guaranteed, leads and clients are known to “change their minds.” Understand what it takes to meet your sales goals. How many leads to generate how many sales? How many sales to make how much money? No doubt, you will need a lot more leads to generate a minimal amount of sales. This requires you to maintain a “pipeline.” Keeping your pipeline full allows you to make more accurate sales projections and increases the opportunity for you to meet your sales goals.
Have consistency and Focus.
Consistent and focused marketing is essential to each and every business. Do you know where the majority of your business comes from? Is it referrals? Is it advertising? Is cross-promoting? If it's referrals from other people, who are they and where can you get more of them?
Get excited about your business and market, market, market!

An Evening Spent with A Former Supervisor.

I wanted to share this experience with others, because it was unexpected, but because I was prepared and ready to go, client resulted from my preparation.
Two weeks ago, I was in my favorite store, (Targets) and was walking aimlessly down this aisle, when all of a sudden, a woman called out my name. I turned around to see that it was my former Supervisor. (I'll keep names out of it) I looked in her direction and saw her walking towards me quickly. The first thing I thought was, "Oh Lord! Why did I have to bump into her?" This woman and I really never got along and I couldn't think of no other way that this encounter would turn out but disastrous. However, she smiled and held out her hands to greet me. I wanted to smack her hands away, turn up my nose and walk away. Instead, I reached for her hand and firmly shook her hand. We talked the entire time while shopping. While at check-out she told me that she was laid off and that her husband was fired from his job. She continued, she mentioned that her husband has just started a business and needed help doing things around the office. She offered me to come work for them. The offer was nice, but I remembered what it was like working with when she was my supervisor. (PURE H****). SO I thought.
This was the perfect opportunity, I told her about my business and what I do and how I could help their business. We talked some more, I gave her my card, (I was glad to have some in my purse) and later that evening she called me. The next 48 hours we met at a local coffee shop and we signed a contract.
Who would have thought a supervisor, who ethic and conduct was so unbearable to work with, would now be someone paying me to do services? The moral.......When you become your own boss, you let go of the employee mind-set. Keep being professional no matter how bad a person treated you. Who knows, that person may someday REALLY appreciate what you do and pay you to do it. Now she is no longer just my former supervisor, but a client.

VERY inspiring - sounds like you really have gotten past that employee mind-set, and it's paying off. Congratulations!
