The Meeting #1

The meeting it was such a great thing. Possibly because I just couldn't decide who to meet so I invited them all.
There was my Dad at 16 fighting for the right to go to a special school for the blind and deaf. My grandparents didn't understand then why it was so important to him. For me to understand how even at the age of 16 his need to learn gave him strength to leave his family and go live with strangers. This is probable what gives me that wanderer spirit.
My grandmother, what a woman, she lived through so much. From the horse and buggy to seeing men go to the moon. Now that I have grandchildren there are so many questions I have for her. How did it feel when she saw her first car? Did she really believe it when she was told man could fly? I'm sure as we shared lunch I would think of more questions.
Great grandpa, he is a vague memory in my mind. I know he was tall from pictures I saw. I know that he loved language, spoke at least 4 different languages. I can see us now getting lost talking about languages and forgetting the time. Oh for just a few minutes with the man I know only from pictures.
The meeting is over now, the best thing about this meeting is there are no minutes to type up tomorrow. Everything we talked about is a memory to cherish forever.
