I haven't blogged EVER. I realize I need to learn how because it seems to be important in this new social networking and marketing society. I'm still intimidated by the idea.

I have a personal blog that I barely keep up with. The good thing about that is that when I am ready to start a blog for my business I will have some practice.

Most of my blogs are personal thoughts and ideas. All of my clients read and comment on them. I'm told that my blogs make them feel like they know me personally and that means a lot to me.
I have several clients who have been with me for years and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Blogging....ughhh I've been struggling with the concept for ever it seems. I probably should even just take my blog off my website because I haven't posted to it in so long.

But the other day Dawn(Virtual Assistant in Paradise) mentioned something on twitter about hiring your kids to work for you. Hmmm I thought thats a great idea, there's alot my daughter could help me with. And then tonight while reading this thread I had a thought!

Gabrielle(daughter) is a great writer, I mean she's good! Her essays are usually in the 95-100 range. So I'm thinking I could write out my ideas in a rough format and let her do the actual article! This could work right??

I blog mostly for clients and for my review blog. I struggle with having enough compelling content for our business blog.

Anyone else want to give us updates on what you are blogging about? Or perhaps I should see if there is a newer thread...

I completely missed several pages of this conversation!

I have had my daughter blog for me on one of our family blogs. She's a good writer, but still developing an editor's eye, so her work needs editing, especially if she's in a hurry. But I think it's a great idea, Deb, especially if you can give your daughter your thoughts and trust her to create great content. Your own personal VA by your side! ;-)

I like doing my day to day administrative tasks, and I'm not that familiar with starting a blog or RSS. Is this a good way to market your business? Are your clients requesting you to blog for their business? What application do you use to only write your information once and it updates all your networking sites? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I think blogging can be a way to market your business, at least that is what I have heard. Although, I think it is best to have a routine or schedule in place for a blog and that has yet to happen for me.

Yes, blogging is part of what I do for my clients. It is the main task for one client.

The way this particular client has it set up, once I write a blog post, it automatically tweets it. If I update her facebook fan/like page it will automatically tweet that as well.

For Twitter I use Hootesuite to manage multiple twitter accounts, my clients and my own. It is a tremendous help. On last night's chat tweetdeck was suggested as welll, but the few times I have gone to sign up for that it has been down so I have not used it.

Please note, everybody: the important thing is to produce new content on a regular basis. You DO NOT have to write a blog. But you do have to produce new content. You can podcast, post photos or videos, recipes, quotes, cute things your kid says, links to other great sites .... anything. (Though the more closely related to your business the better.)

Whatever your content, you have to tag it properly, so writing is not completely eliminated. But if you're fretting because writing's really not your thing, please don't think blogging is confined to the written word.

It's about being active and participating wholeheartedly in the social media/internet scene. When you do that, search engines notice. When you set up a static website and go away, search engine interest wanes.

Mary...thanks for that, some of the idea's you mentioned for content I wouldn't have thought of, and I do fret about writing LOL. Thanks for pointing out that it's not necessarily just about writing and more about producing on a regular basis!!! I like it

First of all, I blog because blogging seems to be the "next popular trend" back in 2004. Now I blog because of my business. Sometimes, I am just too lazy or too busy to update my blog, but I make it a priority to at least post once between a few days (best if I can post once a day, every day). Blogging does help me get more clients, although it only happens once in a while.

Yes I do! Who don't in these days.... For now, I have about more thank 5 blogs in various topics but very rare to update them. Most of my blog's topic is about woman and diary. Now I'm starting up my newbie Virtual Assistant website (you will see that it is in Bahasa Indonesia, but I'm working on the English version one), www.zuratheva.co.cc
