Wordpress Themes
Hi everyone!
I am getting ready to do a Wordpress based website for a client and she picked out the Titanium theme from iThemes. I am trying to determine if I should stick with purchasing the one theme or if I should purchase their All Access Pass (budget is tight though).
I am trying to get myself set up to start doing more websites/blogs for customers and I am looking for the best value but also purchasing the themes that will work best in the long run for multiple clients.
Any suggestions on this particular theme or any other themes I should consider?
Thanks for the help!
Vanessa

ithemes is now offering a new theme called iThemes Builder, it gives you lots of flexibility for creating themes for clients - so that might something you want to look at.

I currently use Thesis - for myself and many of my clients. It's reason price to purchase the developers license and then it's $40 for each client purchase which is discounted from the normal rate for someone to purchase as a stand alone. The Developers license was under $150 if I remember correctly.

There's also Headway which offers a lot of customization.

If you know you have a few projects in the next little while that can pay for the all access pass (it also included the Builder theme) then it might be worth investing in it. I have purchased a membership to ElegantThemes.com which is yearly and relatively inexpensive. Not as many themes available, but it's helped me so far.

Sometimes it's hard to bite the bullet, but if this is a service you are offering and you feel it will help you expand your service offerings then it might be a good idea. I'm looking at the Builder them because I like the flexibility and ease of creating the site, but haven't made the leap yet.

Good luck!

I've occasionally bought templates for clients but not many. I often find 3 or 4 free templates that meets their brief and then modify to suit. That's worked well 95% of the time.

Thanks for the tips! I think I will just buy the one for now since I don't have anything in the works. Then I can address it as needed for the next one.
Thanks for the tip on ElegantThemes.com too. That one is very inexpensive for what you get!
Thanks again!

Hey Vanessa, once you get good at customizing themes, the new WordPress default Twenty Ten theme is a solid base and really easy to customize. Just saying that one doesn't always have to pay for a theme to come out with a very nice site in the end.

I did use Elegant Theme's Coldstone/Nature theme for my site, but by the time I got done with it, it looked nothing like the theme except the green menu (and that I made wider, LOL). Now I've been dreaming up a new site redesign for SunRise - just not enough hours in the day to implement it.

Good to hear your comments on this, Jules. I was wondering about the Twenty Ten theme as I suspected it was a good foundation for almost anything. But haven't tried it yet, so your recommendation gives me something to look forward to!
PS - Good luck with site redesign. Funny how easy it is to just put your own site at the bottom of your to-do list. But it's really important!

You've already gotten some really solid advice; so I'll just add that if you're going to really focus on creating WordPress sites purchasing a developers license to one of the highly customizable themes can save you a lot of time. And of course the quicker you can pull a site together the more sites you can create (and get paid for!)
This is just one of the reasons I went with Headway. I can get tons of different looks, extremely customized with little to no playing around with coding.
I never realized just how much time it took to tweak even the little bits of code until I just recently began work on a client site with a free template. It's taken me at least three times as long to complete as my sites on Headway do.

You're so right Tina, I use Thesis for many of my client sites and now have a library of cut and paste code I use for the common things I need to actually code. That's also why I'm looking at the Builder Theme from iThemes - seems like I'd be able to implement a lot of customization very quickly and the price actually isn't that bad considering that one site will simply pay for it and then some.....I think I might purchase it with my next Wordpress design contract.

You've received great info already but I'd like to add that I use StudioPress Themes which is great value for money, which are easy to use once you know your way around customising themes.
