Shari's webhost only allows for Wordpress 1.0, so she can't use Spam Karma, but Akismet did come built in to her Wordpress install. Shari, to set up Akismet on your blog, you'll need what's called an API key that was sent to your email address when your blog was set up. After that, go into your Plugins tab on your Wordpress backend and click "Activate" for the Akismet plugin. Wordpress should prompt you from there! I've always used Akismet. You need to register with wordpress.com but only for a user name - not for a blog. They will email you with your API key.
