Re: What is an RSS feed?
Hi Robin,
An RSS feed is an XML file (XML stands for Extensible Markup Language). RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. The word syndication is the key to this sometimes cryptic sounding word.
By having an RSS feed available for your blog or podcast, you are providing your audience with a very easy and convenient way to subscribe to your content. When a new blog post or podcast episode is added to your RSS feed, your subscribers’ lists get updated automatically with your new content which they can then access at their convenience.
People can subscribe to a podcast feed using an RSS reader, such as, Google Reader, Juice or even Firefox. An RSS reader is what checks a user’s subscribed feeds regularly for new content.
