Default Using Wordpress as a site?
What do you think of using wordpress as a website...with no intentions of posting regular posts??

I've seen many sites that are powered by Wordpress but there is not daily, weekly or even monthly posts. There is just one telling about the company and that's it. Rest of the site is done with the pages.

Is this a no-no....should people be using like html website templates instead??

You will get a lot more traffic to your site if you are blogging. One of the wordpress pages could be your "information" and another your regular blog.

Even if you aren't blogging, your Wordpress-based site will have the benefit of Wordpress' built-in SEO. Of course, regular updates to your site will help that.

In my opinion, a Wordpress-based site offers far more flexibility and, most likely, better SEO features than a template will.

I got virtually no traffic to my site using a template when I first started out. Shortly after building a Wordpress-based site, my traffic began to increase. I never made a single "post."

A Wordpress site can work. But I would still post regularly, at least once a month, with information your clients would find useful.

When I first started as a VA my website was a wordpress site. There are alot of VA's that use it. It worked fine for me especially with not knowing alot about designing a website. I now use microsoft office live, which is also free but still have a blog with wordpress. I just never keep up with posting to it.

Using wordpress as a static website is very beneficial to the coding-illiterate. Using wordpress will allow you to get a professional template built - and you'll be able to post new pages, change content, etc without ever worrying about fudging up the design. It's definitely a winner!

If you decide to go the wordpress route, I highly suggest you use the Revolution Business Theme, which is totally customizable and easy to use. It's fantastic!

My site is wordpress based (as is my blog!) I love wordpress - it is easy for me to update or make changes to, and I'm not very web design savvy. I had someone set up the template for me with my logo and everything and now I can maintain it!

My site and blog is wordpress based as well. I too love wordpress. It is easy to use and maintain once it is setup and is SEO friendly.

You should think about posting regularly though it will help your rankings.

Wow.....I learn something new every hour around here! Didn't even know you could use Wordpress as a static site. Always assumed having your own site/domain was the best way to go. I have set up a blog there, but have to admit I'm already having writer's block as to what to put on it, without sounding like or repeating what everyone else has already said about VA's.

But, will say, that everything I read about getting any site noticed is to have fresh material.......whether its actual blogging or just changing some content from time to time. I have seen it suggested that you do that at least once a month. Apparently Google and other company's crawlers recognize stale content (I so have to have faith cause I truly have no clue how a crawler would know that kind of thing!)

It's like this: The Google crawlers are like hungry spiders. They need food in order to flourish. Their food is fresh content on websites. So, every time you make a post on your blog you are actually feeding the crawlers with your fresh content.

These are very smart spiders and they know where to get their next meal. If you post regularly then they'll be showing up at your blog looking for more food. The more you feed them the more they will visit. But, if you stop feeding them, they will go away and occasionally come back to see if you have anything fresh for them to eat.

Does that make sense or did I just totally confuse you even more?
