Default SEO and Wordpress question
Can you do SEO on a wordpress blog? In particular, I'm asking about being able to name the url? I'm considering using wordpress as my webpage by making the pages that don't look like blogs. Right now, my about page is at my domain. com/ ?pageid=2. ???

I have to look, but there is a place within options which will allow the url page names to be the same as the name of your article or page topic.

Under options - click "Permalinks." That's where you can change how your URLs appear.

Oh, thank you, thank you! I've been looking everywhere for that!

So, do I click the "custom" choice and then put in something like "page title?"

In your admin panel go to Options > Permalinks
Then under Common Options select "Custom, specify below", now, in the form field enter "/%postname%" (NO QUOTES)
Under "Optional", there are two fields, enter "/topic" (NO QUOTES) for "Category base" and "/tag" (NO QUOTES) for "Tag base".

Then click "Update permalink structure".

Now there is a piece of code at the bottom of the page and you have to copy and paste it into a file and name the file .htaccess and save it and upload it into your website, where Wordpress is installed.

Also please note that, not all the hosting packages will support this. Your website needs to be hosted on an Apache web server with mod_rewrite enabled.

I hope this makes sense

Well, the permalink part worked. I was about to ask about regular pages instead of just posts, but what you had on there worked for the pages too. You sort of lost me on the rest of it. Lol!

If the first bit worked then you don't need to worry about the second bit. It's good to be aware of your server setup though whenever possible
