Question New to Blogging - Need Complete Help/Understanding
Hello All,

I'm completely new to this blogging thing. I even recently saw something that was referred to as vlogging??? So what is this all about? I love to write, but want to understand all of this so I can participate possibly. I know absolutely nothing about it's purpose really, about how to get started, about how it all works, best places to participate, why blogging is advantageous, what I should keep in mind as I'm blogging, etc.

Please help with anything and everything as I'm in the dark.

I just signed up with today.com, and hope to get confirmation of acceptance, but if there are other sites where I can make some good money please share them with me. I will try anything.

Thanks to all!

Hi Michelle. ProBlogger's site could help get you started. His section on "Blogging Tips for Beginners" has a lot of information.

If you're thinking of blogging as part of your VA business, then I tend to think of it as a kind of "giving back" - sharing some sort of useful information with your customers/readers.

That is a wonderful site to read through. I'd also recommend reading through all the past posts within this section as well.

You've been offered some great resources here - I would only like to add that blogging is probably not going to be the cornerstone of your monthly income - no matter how great you are at it. You can make 'extra' money once in a while, sure. But a blog, at least from a business owner/VA standpoint should really be a tool for bringing more visitors to your website and showcasing your knowledge, understanding of technology or recent internet developments (whatever relates to your interests/niche/specialties, etc.) and/or provide tips and tools for whoever your intended audience is (most likely clients and potential clients).

There are some great posts right here in this section about blogging and what other VAs focus on when they post to their own blogs - so do check it out.
And, if you want a great place to start a free blog (and have an instant audience) you can create your own blog right here on the forums - click here and then click 'Your Blog' in the menu along the *left side* of the page to get started.
