Default Movable Type blog through Yahoo webhosting
I built my website through Yahoo Site Solution. I love to write, so I decided to start a blog. I am new to blogging, but saw blog information on my Yahoo web hosting. Yahoo offers Movable Type, so I went into my Yahoo web hosting to create the blog and activated Movable Type. It asked if I wanted to make the blog my home page on my website, which will replace my original home page. I did not want to do that. I simply want to add the blog as a page on my website. I have started and published the blog, but it is not linked to my site. Movable type used my URL, but it is a separate web page not linked to my site. I tried to add a blog page by editing my site, but I am not sure how to link it to the blog. I have searched Yahoo for information. I contacted Yahoo, but who knows if and when they will get back to me. Does anyone have any ideas? It is probably something really simple, but I am just not sure what to do. Thanks!

Dumb question, Amanda, but what is the URL to your blog?

There are no dumb questions. Movable type set up the URL as http://virtuallysupportivesolutions.com/blog/. It would seem to me that it should be connected to my site, but if it is you can't see it or get to it through the site.

Hi Amanda,

In your menu on the right, you need to add a menu link to it called "Blog" or whatever you want (although that seems the obvious choice ).

For example your Services menu item has the following URL: http://www.virtuallysupportivesolutions.com/services, so you need to have a link in the menu that points to your blog: http://www.virtuallysupportivesolutions.com/blog.

Does that make sense?

It makes perfect sense. I sort of tried that last night, but I may not have done it quite like that. With Site Builder, you can go in and tell it you want to add a page and it has premade pages or you can use a blank page. I added a blog page and then it was listed in my menu, but didn't know how to link it. I will play around with it and see if I can get it to work. Thanks!

Sorry, I meant Site Solution, not Site Builder. Anyway, I went into Site Solution and told it to add a page entitled Blog. It added the page. Of course the page is empty. I went into settings in Movable Type and the default URL for publishing the blog I posted yesterday is still set for www.virtuallysupportivesolutions.com/blog, which now is the blank page on my site. Site Solution was an easy solution to getting my website up and running quickly, but it does not support html and it is a little frustrating.

You may have figured this out by now, but in case not ....

In the code for your home page you have this:

</style><div id="hContent"><div id="headerContent" class="editorWrap"><div id="headerZoneElement" class="editable rte flexContent" rel="itemGuid.sit.hc.001"><h1 align="center" style="line-height: normal; text-align: center"><font size="6" face="trebuchet ms,geneva" style="line-height: normal">Virtually Supportive Solutions</font></h1><p align="center" style="line-height: normal; text-align: center"><font color="#993300" face="trebuchet ms,geneva">Supporting Your Success</font></p><p> </p></div></div></div><div id="hMisc"><div class="contactInfoContainer" style="width:auto;height:auto" ><p class="vcard"><span class="fn org"><span class="organization-name">Virtually Supportive Solutions</span></span><br><span class="adr"><br><span class="country-name">United States</span></span><br><span class="mailtoWrapper"><a class="email" href="mailto:contact@virtually supportivesolutions.com">conta ct<wbr>@virtuall<wbr>ysupporti <wbr>vesolutio<wbr>ns<wbr>.com </a></span></p></div></div></div><div id="wrapper"><div xmlns="" id="navigation"><ul id="mainNav"><li class="active"><a href="/home">Home</a></li> <li><a href="/services">Services</a></li> <li><a href="/about_us">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="/contact_us">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="/rates_and_terms">Rates and Terms</a></li> <li><a href="/faq">FAQ</a></li> <li><a href="/blog">blog</a>

Try writing that last bit differently:
<a href="http://virtuallysupportivesolutions.c om/blog/"> blog </a>
Note that this address has no 'www.'

See if that works.

Thanks for all of your help, ladies! The Yahoo Site Solution is a bear to deal with. It won't let you do much. It wouldn't let me get into the html to change the codes and it wouldn't let me attach a link to my blog tab. Anyway, I ended up putting a link on my website at the top to "visit our blog". I appreciate your help!
