Ok everyone has been telling me how important blogging is for marketing your business. So since I had that wordpress blog sitting around doing nothing I decided it was time to do something with it. Actually it was part of my homework from Erin's course I thought it would be the hardest thing ever because I'm not always the best with words......but I did it...and it wasn't very painful at all LOL You can view it at The Blog about Gem's I posted a small item in November but that was just to get something on a page It's probably not as well written as it could be but the important thing about it is: that its something I've been putting off for awhile, and I can now cross it off that to-do list! I just have to be a good girl and remember to post often

Blogging is a great habit to get into. Not only is it a great addition to your marketing plan but it's *excellent* for SEO.

When I had a business site and was always running out of things to write about I went and signed up for Google Alerts in Google News for keywords like 'small business' and 'free business resource' etc, etc. that way I would get a few interesting stories and useful tidbits daily so that if I didn't have anything on my own plate to write about I could tip my readers off to something going on somewhere else.

It's also a great place to announce new client relationships, new projects, press releases (your own!), and the like.

One quick note - I left you a comment and the timestamp is way off (it said Dec 5, 3:40 a.m. but it's only about 10:45 p.m. in New York on the 4th) Does WP let you adjust the time zone on your blog settings?

Thanks Tess for the nice comments and suggestions on content...I'm sure I'll be needing all the help I can get in finding something to write about LOL. I'll have to look into the time zone thingy, not really sure how that works....so much to learn still....if anyone wants to jump in with the quick answer and fix to that question it would be appreciated!

Thanks I was really surprised at how much I'd written when I was done, but then again I don't usually have a problem in the rambling area :singer: unless its in front of a crowd and I'm on the hotspot!

Good job! Now I feel encourage to get moving on my blog. At first I wasn't sure in which direction to take it, but after reading yours, I don't have to be so anal about it. Just put my personality into it, write about things of interest to me and that the readers would enjoy or can use. I think for your first, you didn't do badly at all!! ~smiles~
