Default Feedburner Question
Hi everyone,

One of my clients wants to have only an excerpt of her blog posts show up in the reader (therefore someone would have to click to her blog to read the rest - whether from an email or RSS reader).

Her blog is set up with Wordpress and she currently uses feedburner.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks
Warmly
Rachel

In Feedburner, click the Optimize tab. Then click Summary Burner and configure.

Great answer, Mary.

Oddly enough I was just reading some blog posts recently about the debate as to whether you should have excerpts or whole posts in your feed. There were several arguments that using just an excerpt doesn't actually result in click throughs to the blog and in fact a good majority of the comments I read indicated that people often just unsubscribe to feeds that only have excerpts. They stated that having the full post in the feed will get them to read the whole post more often and THEN they go to the original blog or site to post a comment.

There were also some people who indicated that their site analytics/statistics also did not support that excerpts in the feed supported more click-throughs to the blog.

Still, a debate goes on about the issue though....

Thanks Mary and Kimberly. I agree regarding subscribers not clicking through. I know it's a big debate. However my client still wants to try to see how it works for her. We'll see
