Default E-mail capture for newsletters
I'm working on my blog and I'd like to have a place where people can sign up to receive my newsletters. I'm having a tough time finding one in WP Plugins.

I'd love to know what you recommend.

Also (no laughing) how do I have a one page "under construction" page while I tweak the blog?

Thanks!!

Donnamaire,

You don't need a plugin for a newsletter. You first need to set up an account with an autoresponder service. A good free one is MailChimp. Once you have the account set up you will need to set up a "list" there and then build a form. The code they give you for the form would be entered in a "text" widget in your wordpress dashboard.

As for an "under construction" page. WP has a maintenance mode plugin you can get by searching for "Maintenance Mode" in the add new plugins section.

I just experienced how the contact form thing is done on WP from Constant Contact. I don't know if Mail Chimp allows this, but Constant Contact let's me develop my fields any way I want, so I can also have it setup to capture RFP information or profile information.

Seems pretty cool. I'm still working on it - but I love the flexibility it seems to have so far.

Thanks also for the info on the maintenance mode plugin. Gotta check that out!! ;-)

Pam,

If you have a facebook fan page, there is a Constant Contact app that you can use to tie into your autoresponder list.
