Default Changing a Word Press Theme
Someone has asked me if they can have their colors changed on a word press theme, add pages, discussion plugins and audio. They have a pre-made wordpress theme already and they do not like it. The way I see it is they would have to hire a programmer to either create a custom theme or modify the one they have already.

Can anyone tell me if this is so and if not, what other alternatives they might have?

Thanks,
Jan

It totally depends on just how different they want it.
I'm not a programmer but I know better than the basics of html and css and I always customize the WP templates I use.
Generally changing colors can be fairly easy but it may involve more than just changing the html color codes. Most themes/templates rely on jpg or gif files as background, etc. so it would require pulling those files into Photoshop and making the changes there. If you like, I can take a look at what they have and what they would like and let you know what kind of help they may need.

Hi Jan, I can really only second what Christina has said - most elements of a template are customizable, but some may take a bit more coding and design knowledge than usual. Things like link classes, font colors (as long as they're not in a graphic, as mentioned) should be fairly straightforward, especially if there is a stylesheet.
