I wouldn't install Wordpress via ftp. Go Daddy has an installer that works much better. Go to your hosting control and use the Go Daddy Hosting Connection and choose Wordpress for installation. It will take you step by step through choosing your Wordpress user ID and password, etc. One important note is that you want to install it to your root directory (
http://virtualassistantchick.com/) and NOT to it's own directory (that would look more like
http://virtualassitantchick.com/wordpress).
Once you've gone through all the steps, Go Daddy will e-mail you when the installation is complete and then you can log into your Wordpress dashboard and you're off to the races.
I hope this makes sense, but if not, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I can give better instructions.
P.S. if you already did this and that's why it's not in the root directory, simply uninstall it and start over.
