Question Can a Wordpress pro please walk me through this?
I've installed Wordpress using the godaddy ftp client, but I'm not exactly sure how to move it to the root directory.

Can someone please walk me through how to do this (speak slow, use easy words!) as I'm ready to begin ripping my hair out. Things generally come pretty easy for me, but I can see that this just isn't one of them!

I wouldn't install Wordpress via ftp. Go Daddy has an installer that works much better. Go to your hosting control and use the Go Daddy Hosting Connection and choose Wordpress for installation. It will take you step by step through choosing your Wordpress user ID and password, etc. One important note is that you want to install it to your root directory (http://virtualassistantchick.com/) and NOT to it's own directory (that would look more like http://virtualassitantchick.com/wordpress).
Once you've gone through all the steps, Go Daddy will e-mail you when the installation is complete and then you can log into your Wordpress dashboard and you're off to the races.
I hope this makes sense, but if not, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I can give better instructions.

P.S. if you already did this and that's why it's not in the root directory, simply uninstall it and start over.

Hmmm. I went through the entire godaddy process, and it did go to www.domainname.com/wordpress. I just can't figure out how to make it go to the root directory, which I'm guessing is the folder with the .....'s.

Ok, just got off the phone with godaddy. The last guy I spoke with thought that I could use all of the free hosting credits that I've accumulated with this, but there are a few catches involved, like not being able to install into the root directory. So, I've switched over to may purchased hosting and everything should be great in 24-48 hours. We shall see

I don't host through godaddy although I buy domains from them. I've had clients who have had problems with them too. I provide hosting through another server and use a program called Fantastico for installing - very quick and easy to use.
