Default Blogspot or Wordpress?
Which is better? I know in Blogspot you can add Adsense in your blog and thats not possible with wordpress unless you have your own domain.

So pros and cons please.

Thanks.

Your choice of blog depends on your purpose for having one. If your blog is for business purposes then a blog you can have on your own domain is best for many reasons not the least of which is it makes it easier to promote from a marketing standpoint.

I highly suggest Wordpress all the way. Shari is right it depends on what the purpose of the blog is. However in order to generate a good income you need to have extreme traffic on your site and have multiple sites to earn any revenue from adsense. You are lucky if you will make a couple of dollars a month. Is it worth it to have adsense on your blog if there is no income from it? It does not look very nice honestly and unless you have a minimum of a few thousand people (unique visitors) visiting your site per month I can't see what beneift you will have from it.

Wordpress has many great advantages and is always being upgraded. It is the most popular blogging platform ou there.

I hope I helped

I agree with Shari and Serena about the purpose of the blog and ease of use. I don't know blogspot all that well, but it always seems to me that whenever I want to post a comment on a blogspot blog, then I have to log into my gmail account. Sometimes this is more hassle than it's worth to me. And what about people that don't have a gmail account? (if there are any...) But like I said, I don't know blogspot so perhaps there is a way to set up your blog so that doesn't happen.

I happen to have a blog at both Wordpress and Blogspot. I needed to learn about Blogspot to help a client, so that's why. Anyhow, I do prefer Wordpress. I think it looks more professional and I like the options. They are always upgrading.

I differ regarding the opinion about your blogging needing to generate income. Of course that would be great. But I think it's more important to use as part of your whole marketing strategy. And marketing in today's environment is about educating. The money comes later. My blog did influence a prospect to use my services because she liked my writing style. So it did create some income in that sense.

I agree that Wordpress is very popular right now. It is pretty highly recommended. And agree with Kimberly about having to log in to Google before you can comment.

I also just read a long post about someone having to move a blog from Blogspot to another host. Apparently Blogspot doesn't allow forwarding - so if someone tries to go to your old Blogspot blog, they won't be redirected to your new blog. But I haven't checked into that to see if that is still the case. If I could remember where that post is, I would put the link here. But then if you don't need to move it, then that's not a problem.

Blogspot is very easy to set up and, personally, I don't mind the AdSense stuff, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the content. But I do agree that Wordpress is the more favoured now.

I'm also using Wordpress, and just today someone showed me how to put my wordpress blog on to my Microsoft Office Live Website...so I was excited I decided I wanted to do this because as Shari and others are saying, its best to have your blog on the same domain as your website.

I'm just starting out so am not blogging yet - although my first entry is already in my head. My daughter has a family blog on blogspot, but thanks for the information about Wordpress. Sounds as though that is more professional.

I too use Wordpress, and have integrated it within my business's website so a reader doesn't need to directed somewhere else. I love the functionality and it is very easy to use. Very customizable. Another vote for Wordpress!

I agree that Wordpress is the way to go. In addition to the reasons cited, Blogger seems to be less secure. I have seen more than one Blogspot blog taken over by a **** site.
