Re: Blog vs Website! What's the difference?
A blogsite is built on a blog framework, like Wordpress, rather than html coding. Since it's original purpose was for blogs, the index page is automatically set up so that you can easily add posts through the 'dashboard' or administration area and they appear on the main page of your site. You can also add additional pages, for example pages for your services, about your company, etc. which can be created and added through the same interface as adding a blog post. (Very similar to writing messages here on the forum actually.)
By applying a theme, you can get different looks and personalize it with your own graphics, headers, etc. There are tons of themes to choose from, some are free, but I've found that the ones that allow the most personalization are the paid ones. The one's I've bought were well worth the cost. And then there are plug-in that allow you to do all kinds of cool things like adding contact forms and just about anything else you could possibly think of.
As to why a VA might choose a blogsite over a traditional website. I can only speak for myself. I felt that having a blog was vital in my marketing plan and after seeing some of the fantastic looking blogsites out there, I decided to take the plunge. I have no regrets. The ease of adding and changing my content, images, pages and posts saves me tons of time. And that's important because I like to change things alot.
I think it allows me to have a very up to date look and feel to my website, and it was less expensive than hiring someone to build a traditional website for me.
