I am completely premature in having this blog. I decided to start the blog to generate leads for a business venture that I'm going to hold off on until I get my VA business up and running. Now my problem is should I continue building my blog community and change the focus of it now before it is too late?

I want the focus of my blog to be like a follow along of my progression towards entrepreneurship. Is this a good idea?

Personally I feel that a blog grows organically with its writer and should depict the wide spectrum of changes that happen over the course of time, including sometimes the change in focus.

Whilst ideally the role of the blog would remain the same, sometimes, it changes in that organic way that almost takes you by surprise and I think from there on in it comes down to personal choice.

I know of quite a few prolific and successful business bloggers who, with consistency of posting and ensuring quality of said posts have been able to build a far superior, more engaging and multi faceted blog yet also on the flip side I know many who have created additional blogs when their circumstances change so as to maintain the blogs original integrity. I'm sure you have though about this over and over again and I would say follow your instincts. I have begun reading your blog and I like the turn it has taken, I think as long as you post consistently and with knowledge and enthusiasm it can work well, as I said, I'd follow your instincts they seem spot on to me!

Amy you are right and I will keep up my focus change with my readers in mind. I am clearly embarking on the virtual assistant journey but I want a small community on my blog so I'm continuing to build my relationships. I have even started to look for guest authors

I think thats brilliant, guest authors are a great idea to maintain consistency and keep things fresh as well. Good luck with your journey though I am sure you don't need it.

I think in my case I would feel strange having a blog without a business but that is because I will blog on my website ( once i figure out a name LOL )...but it is a good tool to get your name out there. I really dont see any way it can hurt you. As long as the topics are not too person it would probably be great. I read some of your blogs and really think its a fantastic start!
