Set up Google News Alerts for topics related to your business and every day you’ll receive the latest news direct to your email inbox. All you need to do is check out the articles and use them as inspiration for your next blog post.

I didn't learn anywhere, I've always enjoyed writing. I set up a personal blog to write about anything and everything - I found it was a great way to get used to writing again (hadn't really done anything like this since school!).

Hi Bridie,

I used to be able to write good articles and I have years of business management experience to write about, but every time I go to write on my blog I get writer's block. It's almost like the more I read about blogging the more I blank out. Can I just write random blogs about whatever topic I feel for the day or should I be more consistent in content? I'm information overloaded.

I have days like that... usually I just write when I'm "in the mood" so to speak. Sometimes I'll write several and then work on them over a few days, if that makes sense?

I try to find articles that I feel would be of interest to my target market, so in addition to Google Alerts, I also read articles on small business in places like Entrepreneur.com and the Small Business Administration. Usually you can find a topic in these places that you know something about and can expand on and create something that will be of interest to your audience.

Today I wrote a blogpost called "Independent Contractor or Employee in Disguise?" Having found many business owners do not know the pitfalls of just calling someone an Independent Contractor, what I did was provide links to information about the Fair Labor Standards Act and the test to determine employee status vs. contractor status.
