Default Article Submissions Directories - Same Article?
Hi Everyone

I have been writing articles for my people and it is something that I really enjoy doing. Once I give the article to the person who paid me for it, it is considered theirs... or at least that has been my rule of thumb.

I have been reading a lot of information about article submission to different directories and I must say, I am CONFUSED!!!

I have read two different things... when you submit to article directories each article must be "unique/original". Does this mean if you have 10 different article directories you have to write 10 different articles? Or can each site receive the same article?

I have not started submitting my articles anywhere due to this confusion! If someone could clear this up for me I would be greatly appreciative!!

Thanks!!!

I submit the same article to different sites, if it has to do with the article type. Hmmm I never thought about that.

Hi Robin. You're right, it is confusing and there is a lot of conflicting advice out there. I believe the problem revolves around duplicate content penalties from search engines - where you may lose ranking in the search engine results if they deem you have duplicate content. Some people believe these penalties exist, some are not so sure.

It may be more important to think about it from your readers' points of view though. If someone is searching for you because they like your writing and want to see what else you have - what do you want them to find? Or if someone is researching something you've written about?

You might also check out "repurposing" - that's taking a piece of content and repackaging it in different ways.

Hope you find what works for you!

Deb

Wow, I never even thought of the whole duplicate content thing. I've just been submitting the same article away to various directories.

Thanks for this thread, I never thought about this but it may present a problem. I wonder if there are any rules about duplicate content on the article Web sites. If they didn't allow this, they may list it somewhere on their site

Each article submission site has their own set of rules, and if you read them quickly, you'll know if it's ok that the exact same article appears elsewhere - or not.

A good way to approach article marketing is to do the research and decide which four or five sites are best for you. Then learn their rules and work with them, and you'll do fine.

Good information! In the past, I've always submitted the same article, I'll have to read more thoroughly from now on.

Thanks everyone. I am glad to see that I was not the only one that was confused!!

Deb and Mary... your feedback was very useful. I appreciate you taking the time to inform those of us that were not sure. I guess the bottom line is that you need to do your research to be sure what is the right thing to do.

Thanks!!!

Robin

So far the only 2 places I have my articles on were the EZine articles and my website. My website doesn't count as another directory, does it?

Hey Jean... no, Ezine is considered a directory but your website is different.

Hi,

Most article directories will allow you to submit the same article as you submit to other sites. What they do forbid is that you claim someone else's articles as your own or you steal content and put your name to it. Obviously you aren't doing that so don't worry.

I recommend rewriting the articles when you put them on your site. If your article shows up in the Google index on more than one site for a particular search term then Google is likely to show only one site with your article on it. That's okay so long as your article shows up in the results! However, you can please Google and other search engines by having some original or rewritten content on your site.

Through the little I have learning on this topic, I was taught to never submit the same article anywhere. When you use it once then it's done. You should always post unique content for each article. You can however, take one article and spin it into many different articles.

I'm also quite concern on duplicate content on different directories, can some one clear up on this point?

Thanks for posting this question. I just started researching article submission sites and didn't even think about duplication.

Thanks for the heads up
