Default Re: Having trouble with "30 second" elevator
Thanks, Jason

You've offered up some really good tips/advice to get us going on this. I'm not really even in business for myself yet and went out to dinner with my mom and an old family friend the other night. I found myself pulling the shy thing and looking down while trying to explain to him what it is I do and what I hope to do (turn this into a business). Not good at all! And I was even a member of Toastmasters for a while (if you don't use it, you definitely lose it...lol). If I had had an elevator speech ready and practiced even at this early of a stage, I would have probably impressed him with my eagerness and passion rather than the impression that I'm sure I gave... unsure of myself, my dream and my abilities. Thank goodness for my mom who thinks I have amazing skills and doesn't hesitate to tell everyone...lol

So, along with all of this, it's important to practice your speech in situations where you're comfortable so that when you're in an uncomfortable situation, you can say it confidently even if you're not exactly feeling very confident at the moment.
