Default Re: 3/2009 Interview with Donna Cravotta of Virtual Management Concepts, LLC
This is an excellent interview. I enjoyed reading it. It gives me hope. As for me, I really want to target small businesses, but I cannot find a reliable resource to identify newly established businesses of any kind, without joining different organizations, buying different books, lists, etc. which unfortunately calls for money I do not have at this point. My local Chamber of Commerce, I really hate to say, is not much help to small businesses because it is expensive to join and there is a somewhat expensive fee for nearly every service/resource, AND, everyone seems to have already formed associations with everyone else, leaving the newbie somewhat on the outside, trying to get in. Forgive me if I sound hurt by all this, but I am, because I was a member for over 3 years, got no real help, and had to pay for everything that got no results. Needless to say I'm reluctant to try it again. Sorry for my tangent. My question...Is there a resource available that identifies new businesses in an area? I don't mind doing the work, I just need a place to start. I'm trying to be for real about what I'm encountering. I know it can be done and I'm determined to do it. However, everyone I make contact with, who is already in business, already has someone to perform the duties I'm offering, which keeps me feeling like I need to tell everyone that I do everything, in hopes that someone will see something they need in there somewhere. Believe me, I'm not being cynical, I just don't know how many more flyers and business cards I can pass out, or how many more people I can give a pitch to only to get a "no" or "I'll pass out your card if I hear of anyone", etc. I get excited when I hear someone say they know someone who MAY need something I'm offering, then that leads to a dead end. PLEASE HELP! What else can I do?
