DO file a claim against him with whoever regulates the licensing and regulation of attorneys. That needs to go on his record there. Not sure how Maryland operates, but you might be able to file a Small Claims action against him in Court. The important thing is to let him know he's not off the hook and to let others know you will go after what is yours. He should have E&O insurance and SHOULD have had an escrow account set up for office funds.

In the end, all we can do is learn from these experiences and make sure not to repeat them in the future. I'm glad he didn't nail you for more.
