I communicate with many people who have yahoo, gmal and hotmail accounts, and they are all legitimate. I use my yahoo account instead of my ISP account so I won't have to worry about changing my email address. For my yahoo account, I pay $20/year for extra services that aren't available with the free yahoo account.
